My wife was doing a load of wash, and smelled something burning. The timer indicated that the cycle was nearly complte, but the washer did not drain and seemed to be spinning albeit slowly.
When the timer gets past rinse, and just before the spin cycle it makes a humming sound and the washer doesn’t do anything (I guess this is when it should be draining right?). When it gets past that point it begins to spin and slosh around.
I emptied the tub manually, opened up the washer and the belts are all good. I put the timer on the spot where it hums and its the pump motor humming - to confirm I disconnected the power to the pump and it stopped.
Since there was a burning smell should I assume the pump motor is bad? I removed and checked the drain hose that runs from pump to sewer and it was running slow indicating a clog. I’m thinking the pump might have burned up trying to push water through a slow drain. Am I on the right path here or could it be something else?
