For a while the high-speed spin of this front-loader was sounding like a jet aircraft taking off, suddenly it started clunking like a pair of shoes was inside.
When my wife went to take the load out there was smoke which smelled like burnt rubber.
Any thoughts on the possible cause & fix? Anyone know if there is a repair manual available online?
Sorry to hear of your washer trouble. I suspect the main tub bearing was initially bad, followed by a broken tub support now. If you open the door and lift up and down on the inner tub, is it loose and does it knock when you lift it up and down?
I think my daughter’s Samsung F/L washer (model # WF218ANB/XAA) may have similar problems. The drum gasket is visibly VERY torn. The drum is VERY loose…and when you turn the drum you can hear bearings, and they continue to roll after you stop the drum.
Given the cost of the inner tub assembly and the outer tub assembly (the bearing comes as part of the tub assembly) it will likely be more economical to replace the machines. However, I can help with repair, if you decide to repair them.
I agree that with the cost of the parts (~ $300-$600 if I understand the assemblies) and adding to the age of the machine it makes sense to replace it.
I do appreciate your help. Live well, happy and healthy.
I found a service manual but it is not for your exact model. However, it will get you in the right direction for those parts! It is available for download below.
