Since a few days when turning on the oven it doesn’t get hot and you can smell gas. Doing some basic troubleshooting I removed the racks, removed the bottom of the oven and removed the flame spreader. I turned on the oven and watched the igniter unit. It came on as orange and then went to a more white color. But no gas seemed to come out. So I tired to light it manually with a striker and what I found was this. I saw some small flames on the burner rod(?) but they were going out as fast as i could light them. So I changed the temperature close to 500 and it seemed to stay lit better but soon went out. It seems to me that either my igniter is not getting hot enough to trigger the safety valve to open right or the safety valve is stuck. Either part is pretty expensive so I don’t want to go spend more than what I have to even if I have to get a repair man to come. What does it sound like to the experienced crew on this forum that could be wrong?
