Frigidaire low pressure to spray arms

Hi,

I bought a foreclosure and I’m pretty handy. But the dishwasher has me puzzled.

At first it leaked water from the inlet solenoid so I replaced that. I thought I was on my way.

Then I ran a cycle and while water went in and drained out, the arms did not spray anything. I could hear the pump running but it does have a good amount of vibration coming from it.

I read numerous posts on here, took it apart, and found a ball! of all things (yes I know NOW it’s a check ball!). I put it back together without the ball and found that the spray arm would at least bubble water out of it, but not enough to spin or do anything. The upper arm, nothing. So then I took the impeller housing off to see what it was doing, and while spinning, you can stop it with a plastic fork. After releasing, it just kind of bumbles down to nothing. I would assume with the head pressure it would need to get the arms spinning, it would not be able to stopped with a plastic fork?

So after looking at the exploded diagram, I’m thinking the only thing to do is to buy the whole pump assembly since you can’t buy pumps by themselves. Am I right? Will I need to buy anything else like a new gasket? And how easy is it to install? I’m assuming I will have to turn it upside down to install it correctly.

Thanks in advance, this a great forum. I’m awaiting my new top for my stove so I can install that also. Yes, the joy of buying a poorly maintained house. It’s easy stuff tho…
