My Frigidaire side by side model frs26lf7ds2 runs for four or five days just fine, and then quits. The circulation fan stops circulating the air, so everything thats not in the bottom of the freezer thaws out. So I know what the compressor works fine, but I dont know if its the circulation fan itself, or the thermostat that controls the fan thats causing the issue. Also, When it does quit, I just simply give the side of my fridge a good thump with my fist and it kicks back on and runs fine for another four or five days. Anybody know how I can track down the culprit?
HI.
Next time the evaporator fan stops, check if the compressor and condenser fan next to it are running (or not).
If nothing runs - tap on the freezer control knob with screwdriver butt.
If the fridge kicks in - replace the freezer temperature control.
The control 5304421067

Thank you. Post the results.
Simon.
the compressor and the fan next to it have been running like champs all the time.
Hi.
Disregard the cold control replacement.
When the fan stops remove the evaporator cover and check if it gets 120VAC.
If it does - replace the motor [part]5303918549[/part]
If not - most likely the adaptive defrost control 5303918476
Good luck. Post the results.

ok I’ll be sure to let you know when it stops again. Thanks for all the help!
You are very welcome.
Simon.
so it turned out that the fridge had stopped while I was at work yesterday. so I began pulling out the shelves and the ice maker to get to the back panel. and as im pulling the back panel out, the fan started running again, just like it used to when I would thump the side of the fridge.
So I pulled apart the connections to check for corrosion. The wiring was like new.
I turned the fan by hand to see if it the motor would catch or drag, but it seemed to spin fine.
Hi.
There is the chance that by reconnecting the plug you fixed the problem. If not , you still need to check the voltage when the fan is dead.
Simon.
still running like a champ. All I did was disconnect some plugs and reconnect them. Ive had the ice maker and all the shelves out for 16 days now and it hasnt quit, so Im going to put it back together today and hope for the best.
Keep you fingers crossed.
Good luck.
