front loading washer won't drain

Hi,

My front loading washer is displaying f-21 error code and wont drain. The code comes up when the machine takes too long to drain and shuts down accordingly to avoid further problems from occurring. So far, I’ve cleaned the filter and made sure there were no kinks or obstructions in the line, but it still is not draining. I’ve run the rinse cycle, and it fills up, turns fine, and clicks (to engage pump I imagine), but the pump never kicks on, and the water won’t drain.

The machine is two years old, but is almost constantly running with all 8 people of the house using it. It also runs out to 50-75 ft of 1/2 inch irrigation tubing, which I believe puts more than ordinary amounts of strain on the pump.

My guess is that the pump is finished, but I have run not any electrical tests to verify that everything around the pump is in working order.

My question is what is the most likely culprit to this problem and what is the standard procedure/most common order of tests to find the origin of the problem in a situation like this?

Thanks.

Hello,

This is a very common issue on these units. Order and replace the drain motor to fix. You can verify this by making a live voltage check on the two wires that connect to the pump. When the unit should be draining 110v should be present. These pumps often will overheat and shut down some technicians will clean the filter like you have only to come back to replace the pump.

I know this unit very well and can answer and repair related question you have on it.
