I am stuck as to weather my Ignitor or the Valve Safety Arm may be my problem. The oven won’t light, but it also is not getting gas at all. I can’t light it myself and it doesn’t smell of gas at all. Why is all the gas shut of to it? But the gas range tops still work great.
thanks for any help you can offer to clear this up for me.

Sam,
You most likely have a weak, or broken bake burner igniter,
[part]AP2014008[/part]
The way this system works, when you select a temperature on the control(thermostat)120 VAC is fed to the igniter, as the voltage passes through the igniter it causes the bar to glow. At the same time, as the voltage passes through the igniter it is supplying a low voltage(2.5 to 3.0 VAC/AMPS)circuit to the bake burner valve. Once the voltage and amperage meet the needed requirements, the bi metal switch in the burner valve opens and the gas is released and ignited.
There are other possible problems, but a weak or broken igniter is the most common.
Good Luck.

Thanks a ton for the information.
I just didn’t know if the gas would stop if the ignitor was the issue. The way you explain how that system works, this surely sounds like the issue. I will find a replacement ignitor and get it replaced.
Any tips on actually replacing the ignitor, or is it as simple as it seams?

Sam,
The picture and part number attached to the previous post, is the part you need.
Yes it is a simple repair, the hardest part is not damaging the screws mounting the igniter to the burner assembly.
Good Luck,
