I have this old drop-in that needs to be replaced because the fan has gone. In addition, the thing is all greasy and disgusting. Unfortunately it has an unusual form-factor: 30" wide by 24" deep. So it takes up the entire depth of the countertop. All the ones that I see on the market are 30"x21", and require a hole a little smaller than that. So, if I got one of those there is going to be a 3" gap in the front. It’s going to look ugly and of course there won’t be support for the front of the cooktop. I’m not looking to do an expensive remodeling job just to remedy that missing piece. I’m looking for economical and easy alternatives, such as a bracket that would either fill that front portion of the counter in front of the cooktop, or a complete bracket that would slide into that big gap, while providing the 30"x20" hole needed for the new cooktop to be placed on. Obviously whatever the bracket is, it has to cover the front hole completely. Note that a normal counter is about 2 inches thick, so the bracket in the front has to be L shaped, so not only does it cover the 3" gap on top, but the 2" gap thickness of the countertop. I think of it as an L shaped bracket that’s 30 inchdes wide, and one side of the L is 2" and the other side 3". Give me your proposed solutions please.
