Hello,
I have noticed lately that my frontload GE washer has been extremely noisy in the rinse cycle. This morning I noticed that my washer was not agitating or spinning in the rinse cycle. I took the back off and noticed that the belt had fallen off, but was NOT broken. After several unsuccessful attempts to keep the belt flush to the large pulley in the back, I noticed that, although the nut was tight, the pulley had quite a bit of play, I was able to wobble it quite a bit. Could my noise and belt coming off be due to the pulley being worn where it slides onto the shaft, or is there supposed to be a little bit of give to it? Thanks so much!
No, there should not be play in the pulley. Check the drive nut that holds the pulley on. It has nylon material inside of it that can deteriorate. Try replace the nut and see if that helps.
Thank you! Looks like the back of the pulley is worn where it slides onto the shaft. I tightened up the nut and got like an 1/8 turn on it, but that seems to help the noise a little. Gonna replace that pulley and get a new belt when I get the extra $100. Thanks again!
