GE cooktop ingniter fire

Hello APPRos!

I was cleaning the cooktop with a small scrub brush around the knobs and water must have seeped down toward on of the valves #315 in the exploded diagram, and suddenly the tick-tick-ticking started by itself, all the knobs in off position, and seconds later I saw flames shooting from under the main-top asm in a circle around the gas knob.

I unplugged the power & turned off gas for safety. Now if I reconnect power and turn another gas knob not associated with the first one flames were shooting, I get the same flames at the bad knob, so this must be a bad harness switch or spark module, since they’re all tied together.

That said (1) what parts do you suggest I replace? and (2) do the gas-valves need replacing too, since it was the harness or spark module that’s bad.

Remember the flames only come out of the bottom left knob #315.

Thanks in advance!

while preheating, and during cooking, I note a strong smell of gas exhaust, I had a tech come in and convert to propane when I purchased oven. im wondering if he did something wrong, or if pressure or something might be problem
