My heating element want heat up. Everything shows to be working. How do you know when the safety switches are not working? I have power on both sides of the switches. Not sure if they are normally open or closed switches. The heating elements look but not sure about them either with out taking the dryer all the way apart. Any suggestions?
You might want to check your breaker, it might be partially tripped. Voltage flows to the path of least resistance, and will send power to the motor. You also might want to check, where the plug goes into the dryer, and see if there are no burn’t wires, which is a great place for you to get your volt meter, and check accross the line to make sure you have 240 volts. If so, unplug the dryer, and pop the top, and check those thermostats up top, on you ohms scale for continuity. If you don’t get a reading replace it. After all that, you will have to take the unit apart to check the element. Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com
