We have a GE electric dryer with no heat. We relaced the heat element and the thermal limiter switch. We have tested all the components, thermostats, switches, motors, etc. for the proper voltage/continuity, and everything checks out o.k. We can run the dryer, but we still have no heat. We read 120 volts at the heating element conections and at any point around the element, while running.
Any ideas??..our local appliance repairman is stumped on this one too.
RE-SET the circut breaker in the HOUSE!!! :eek:
Read the voltage across the heater (not to Neutral), should be 240 volts.
Also when you took your resistance readings did you disconnect at least one side of any device you were reading, this prevents reading an alternate/parallel circuit path.
Did you check the heating element to frame (Ground) for resistance. Should be an open. Also what was the heating element’s resistance, should be approximately 10 ohms.
If all thermal fuses, timer contacts and thermostats in the heater’s circuit path are good then all that is left is the centrifugal switch on the motor.

All of our resistance readings were done with the device disconnected. We did check the element to ground…it was open. The element was new, I did check the resistance but can’t remember the reading. Also tested the centrifugal switch on the motor. It checked o.k.
Trying to get ahold of my buddy to have him reset his breaker as Drags1998 has suggested. Will keep you all informed.
