A couple days ago I noticed everything in the Freezer was melting. I then noticed that bottles and such in the fridge were getting dewey and moist. It appeared that the compressor wasn’t working and was really hot. Hot like you can put your fingers on it for about 5 seconds before your brain tells you to pull it away. The next day I pulled the bottom off the back and cleaned it out. Before I unplugged the fridge to clean it out, I noticed that the freezer seemed colder and the compressor was running whereas before the compressor wasn’t running. After I plugged it back in for 4 hours, the compressor never turned back on and was hot again. It had been unplugged for about 24 hours last night when I decided to plug it back in. I put some water in the ice tray and woke up this morning with the compressor running and the ICE in the ice tray. I put my hand on the compressor again and it’s warm now and not hot at all. I want to say the compressor has been running all night. It’s been probably 11 hours since I plugged it back in. I don’t know what to do? Yesterday when I called a couple of appliance places they both said the compressor is burnt out. Would this still be the case now? Is it possible the compressor just overheated or something? I really don’t have a clue about appliances.
I was going to go out and get a new fridge today, but now I’m not sure. It would seem to me that this issue would happen again and I’d hate to lose some more food. What do you experts think?
Thanks
