GE JE1860SH04 Door Monitor

So I woke up this morning, went to heat some grits, and found that while my keypad worked, when I hit the "start" button I could hear some relays (or something) clicking, but the turntable didn’t spin, the fan didn’t turn on, and the grits stayed cold. Googled a bit but didn’t find anything useful, so I called a service tech out. The guy doesn’t do anything but look at the symptoms and says "Oh its the door monitor, that’ll take $300 to repair . I said "no thanks" and got charged a $65 "service fee" :mad: .

Anyway, long story short a live chat with Joel here made me think I needed to replace these parts:

[http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3185646](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=2024367"]http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=2024367[/URL] (two of these)

[URL="http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3185646) (one o these)

Now, the dude that came out said I shouldn’t try this myself because even unplugged I could get electrocuted. I’m having trouble believing that. So anyway, my questions are:

  1. Is the diagonsis correct?
  2. Are the parts listed above the ones I need?
  3. Is $250 labor (those parts would run me $50) insane?
  4. Can I do this myself (safely)?
  5. Is there a service manual or other documentation that would give me the step-by-step on how to do it?

Thanks for any help!

Darrell
