Whenever we try to use the oven to cook the ‘latch door’ light on the thermostat lights. If the latch is engaged the oven will heat, but self-clean is of no use for cooking. I have tried a clean cycle: problem persists. I have unplugging the oven from the wall and letting it sit for several minutes: problem persists. The wiring from the door latch and all the other wiring looks intact. I see nothing to replace except the circuit board and it shows no signs of overheat or other failure. The circuit board is $200 to replace, and I can’t afford to spend $200 on a troubleshooting experiment. Can anyone tell me how to isolate the problem? I have a high-quality VOM and I know how to use it.
[SIZE=3]Disconnect the power to the range then unplug the wires going to the latch switch separate them and tape each on up so that they will not short out. Then reconnect power to range and try it. If after doing this, the oven will work the latch switch needs replacing. I do not recommend leaving it like this, this is only for diagnosing.
