GE Profile Ice Maker Ice Buildup at Back Stops Arm from Working

We have a GREAT side-by-side, VERY large capacity, and no desire to replace it with a newer model, but have had a chronic problem from the beginning. The icemaker has a buildup of melded ice cubes on the far right, back, so that when the pile gets high enough, the rocker arm that controls whether to make ice or stop the process is forced into the "no ice" position. We can empty the ice maker bin, clean it all, start over, and within a few days the pile of cubes has reformed and we have to chip away at them to keep the arm free to signal for more cubes to be made and dumped into the bin. We thought it was a floor-level issue, but we have eliminated that problem and the ice continues to build. We think there is some water dripping into that area from the tube that fills the trays, or from the trays themselves, but aren’t confident we know the problem. We don’t know if we need to replace the entire icemaker, or just one or more parts. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
