GE profile refrigerator - water dispenser won't stop

All of a sudden, the water dispenser turned on automatically and it won’t stop since then. Tried the following:

  1. Turned on the lock button, but the water still runs
  2. Switching to the ice dispenser button, still runs the water
  3. Opening either door will stop the water
  4. Unplugging the power stops the water
  5. Removing the water filter stops the water

For now, left the water filter removed. Do I need to replace the switch or the valve? Any help would be appreciated
