Several weeks ago (September) I posted about my GE profile microwave going "on" when I opened the door - the light comes on and the turntable goes around. You said it’s probably a faulty door switch. I got the generic replacement part you recommended and that fixed it! But a few weeks later - it’s doing it again! Was it maybe a faulty door switch part? Should I get the GE part rather than the generic? Or just another generic and try again? Please help! I really appreciate your advice and time Gene,
Sometimes I see the door switch latch body stick (#28 on parts breakdown). This is normally caused by grease gumming up the moving parts. It is unlikely that the new switch is bad again but anything is possible. What will happen is when you open the door the fan gets a pulse of power as you open the door. If one of the door switches is bad the fan may keep running or if there is a delay in the door switch latch due to mechanical failure (grease, dirty or just broken) the fan will also keep running. Hope this helps!!

Oh and generic micro-switches are just as good as the GE part in fact it is likely they will be the same part only cheaper.

What do you mean "#28 on parts breakdown". I’d like to order all new door switches as the are inexpensive - just to be sure, and then have my handy man clean up and grease or dirt there too. Then I’ll know I’v done everything! Can you remind me of the generic door switch part number please? Thank you so much.
Claudia
It is very important to adjust a new switch during the installation, so the door latch would engage it properly when the door is closed. It’s pretty visible with the outer case removed.
