GE QuietPower2 No Water Fill

I have a GE QuietPower2.

It’s been setting for a while because we were on un-filtered well water. We recently installed a water treatment system, so I cleaned out the mess (and what a mess) in the dishwasher in anticipation of using it again.

The problem is, it doesn’t fill with water. I thought the Water Solenoid Inlet Valve might be bad, so I replaced it…

Still doesn’t get any water.

The water is coming in from the water line. There doesn’t appear to be any obstructions in the water tube AFTER the Inlet Valve and into the dishwasher itself…

Anything else I can check??

Thanx

Michale

Sounds like your water treatment system may not supply enough pressure.

Thanx for the reply…

I am not sure what the pressure is, but when I tested the hose, it shot across the kitchen…

It’s like the water is not making it past that solenoid…

Michale

Measure the voltage across the valve when it should be filling.
If you do not get 120 volts then you probably have a timer problem.

Thanx, I’ll check that.

Where exactly is the timer located??

Thanx again.

Michale

In the door.

A model number would be helpful.

DOH!! Sorry about that… :o

It’s a GLD5800L00WW

Thanx

Michale

Here is your parts breakdown.

It is a pain trying to get tech info on a GE so I do not have a wiring diagram etc.
Check behind the kick plate often it is taped there.

The voltage was completely dead on the solenoid, so I took apart the door.

On the latch assembly, the "actuator handle"…

… had a broken peg on the left side. So I am thinking it might not be disengaging the switches properly. But that doesn’t make much sense, because it would do everything else properly (rinse, spin, drain, etc etc).

Anyways, I ordered a new part and hopefully that will fix the problem.

Thanx for the replies.

Still beats the cost of a new machine…well done!

Sorry about that.
I should have directed you towards the overflow switch.
I must have had my head up my you know what that day.

When I used to do support for other techs, they drove me crazy with missing the obvious. I soon learned to never assume anything even though many of them would get upset with me asking very basic questions.

In this case when you said "so I cleaned out the mess (and what a mess) in the dishwasher", I assumed that included the float assembly which broke my basic rule from years ago.

Again, I apologize for missing the obvious.
Time to give my head a shake and remember what it was like when I actually worked on units so I also have learned something.

I have the same problem; no fill, thus no spinning arms, etc. Where exactly is this float? Is this inside the d/w or under it. Mine is a totally custom install and a BIG PIA to pull out (grinning and grimacing).

[QUOTE=Michale32086;196877]SUCCESS!!! :D:D

There is a float mechanism on the bottom of the dishwasher cleaning area. It was an area I neglected to clean.

The float was stuck in the CLOSED position and therefore didn’t let water flow… =================================
