ge side by side freezer door no ice/water/light

freezer, icemaker fine.

door acts like no power. no water, ice, or light.

already replaced spdt switch on frame.

my wiring diagram is incomplete.

thanks badfish. man, that was fast! i already found the connector; looks ok. will give it a squeeze.

how do i get to that board?? it inside the door, right?

Pop off the front cover that says ice, water etc. behind that are 4 screws, undo those and the whole assembly will slide out, you will need to disconnect the wire harness attached to the board to remove it all the way

1 more thing I forgot, when you get the assy out, make sure the micro switch on the right side is being engaged when pressing for ice or water.

you da man, badfish…thanks

The door on our electric range does not close properly and I suspect the hinge has a broken spring on one side. Problem is: how do I get at this to see what is actually broken? It looks like I need to tear the whole side off the appliance to get at it. Is there an easy way?

Thanks for your help, Jerry W.

I just got my new replacement fridge today. My old GE one broke down after 5 yrs of service (warranty replacement). I was told by the salesman that it was possible to remove the ice maker from the fridge and that there should be instructions. I can’t seem to find it. In my old fridge the original owners had the ice maker removed as well.

I need to remove it to make space for freezer items I don’t have a water line to my fridge. The nearest is ten feet away on the opposite side of the kitchen. I’ve lived without an ice maker for 5 years, I need freezer space more to store my infant’s milk.

The ice maker has a modular plug that connects to the back of the fridge. I think that’s all I need to remove. However, I don’t have anything to cover up the plug ( nothing but the manual was provided).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

Jerry,

Open the door half way and pull it up to remove it from the hinges. Each hinge (#15 on the [B]AP4252510 is secured with the two screws which you can see on the part picture. Remove these screws and pull the hinge through the slot in the frame.

Here are the break down diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?diagram_id=788485&&model_id=8483

Michael,

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

Gene.

The model number form inside the fridge door reads:
596.76053702

Thanks Gene I’ll try that. I was just afraid that the open socket might cause a short if ice or water from the freezer got into it.

You are welcome. Keep us posted.

Gene.

My model # is 596-76604600. Will this work to remove my ice maker?
