Lex,
Unfortunately I did not work with such ranges or it was long time ago. Any way you have to remove all knobs and the control panel in order to reach this switch. click on the link from the previous reply and use the diagrams. No manuals for such old model available as well.

Thanks Gene for all your help. My stove works fine now just like it suppose to.
You are welcome. I’m glad you were able to fix it.

Hi All, Our XL44 (JGBP24GRN6AD) stopped automatically lighting the 2 left burners about a year ago. A month or so later, the other side stopped. We have gas (light it with matches) and would like to get the starter working again. No clicking sounds, no ignition happening.
Any ideas? Is it a relatively simple fix? Thank you so much for your help! Just getting worried when the mother in law comes over and cant get the burner to light and leaves the gas on…not pretty.
Very likely the problem is a bad spark module, but the model number you posted does not come up. Verify and repost it please.

Hi Gene, sorry for the typo. It is JGBP24GEN6AD. If it is the spark module, is it a relatively easy fix?
Thank you again for your help!

Hi Gene,
I’m new to this site but after reading all your great advice, it seems my stove top might need a new spark module. I have a GE XL44 model number JGBS22BEW3wh. Two of my stove top burners does not click when I turn it on to LITE but I can light it with a match. Is this the right part number for my replacement: AP2020570? My second question is, I think my stove has sealed burners, so how do I replace the spark module because it looks like its located next to clock assembly in the diagram.

Hello,
Would the igniters for these burners spark if you turn on any other burner?

The two rear igniters spark and lites. The right front sparks when I turn on the rear but does not spark on its own. The left front doesn’t do anything but can be manually lit. What do you think the problem is? Seems like two different issues with the left and right sides. Thanks in advance Gene.
Ty
Hello Ty,
Looks like you have to replace the ignition switches for both front burners as well as the spark module. The bad news is that the ignition switches for this range are no longer available. You still can use it with a matches.
Gene.
Thanks Gene for all the info. At least I know what the issues are. You guys are running a great forum.
Ty
You are welcome. Sorry we could not really help you this time.

Gene, it has been over a year and the stove top works great! Now I get a call from the wife telling me that the oven is not ‘heating up’. When I looked, it appears not to ignite. I smell a little gas, but no flame. I tried the broiler, and that fired up with no problem. I know she’s looking for a new unit, but hey, I have to keep my man card intact!
Hello,
Sounds like the problem is a bad Bake igniter. Check for 120 VAC to the igniter while the control calls for Bake. If the reading is correct, replace the igniter.
