I know this seems to be a common issue on here and I want to assure you experts that I have read the other threads and followed the procedures therein and have come up short. I Have a GE WJSR4160G2WW washer that is perplexing the crap out of me. It will not spin or agitate. It fills and drains fine. Cycles complete normally except that the motor never engages. I can hear the timer ticking during periods where the motor should be engaged. Let me give details:
I have tried the reset procedure with the lid. Nada.
I have tested the lid switch for continuity. It passes.
I have tested the inline fuse for continuity. It passes.
The LED on the inverter panel indicates "normal standby" according to the wiring diagram. This never changes. Throughout any cycle, the motor never engages and the light always indicates "normal standby." I think this is important because the motor never even tries to engage.
My only lead is that the mode shifter tests at 67 ohms instead of the 98 ohms that I glean from various sources is normal, and it also fails a continuity test.
But why, oh why, if the mode shifter is bad, would the inverter panel not indicate this?
Furthermore, all moving parts are fine and move freely, though it is worth noting that when I move the large wheel by hand, both tub and agitator spin together.
Please God, help me fix this infernal machine so my mother-in-law will stop feeling like the king in the castle because I have to do my laundry at her place. Thank you.
Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but I am having the same issue. What was your resolution, kzinti83?
