My washing machine flooded my basement over the weekend. It will not advance cycles. I can get it to advance manually, but even then it runs continuously.
My GE WJRR4170G0WW had troubles 2 months ago where it #1 sometimes started spinning right after it had filled at the beginning of a wash cycle. This sends all the water over the top of the basket and out onto the floor. #2 It would also intermittently not spin or not agitate. Replacing the Mode Shifter & Shaft Assembly AP4380186 fixed problem #1. Replacing the lid switch fixed problem #2.
Has been working great for two months. Today, it did the full spin during the beginning of the wash cycle so all the water was forced out over the top to flood the laundry room again.
What would cause this? Could it be a bad mode shifter I received? or something else?
