We have a great old (1988) Maytag washer, model LA612 (Series 04). On occasion (once a month maybe), clothes come out of the washer with oil or grease stains. I phoned our local repairman and he says that on that model, if it was leaking oil it would also be leaking water onto the floor, and that it would happen every time we use it. He’s not sure of the problem, and naturally can’t guarantee the repair…and we live 50 miles ($115 service call) away.
Any ideas? I know this machine is old, but I believe that these old Maytags are better machines than the new Maytags.
Thanks,
