When I moved my 30 year old Maytag A106 washer, I noticed that there was an oily substance underneath the washer. A friend tells me that it is probably oil and it is a bad sign. Since the washer works well, I’d like to continue using it until it breaks. I don’t want to spend a lot of money fixing a 30 year old washer and I am not handy enough to try to fix this problem myself. If I let this problem go, what will eventually happen to my washer. Will oil start leaking into the machine when I wash clothes? Will this problem cause any other messy problems (such as overfilling or leaking) or will it just stop working someday? This washer has been very reliable for the past 30 years so I will be very disappointed when it finally stops working.
