yesterday I had my plumber come in and install my brand new gas range. He ran the gas line, plugged the cord into one of my regular outlets, and it worked great. My husband then needed to wire an outlet on the dedicated circuit that is for the range (it was previously wired for a cooktop). He does that, plugs the range in, flips the circuit. There is a buzzing noise for about 10 seconds, then nothing. Slight burning smell. We are now pretty sure that the old cooktop must have required a 240v line and we just fried something in the range, which requires 120v.
Can anyone hazard a guess as to what we fried? I’m really hoping it’s repairable. My husband thought it might be some sort of fuse, but I am wondering if we should just go ahead and order a new circuit board for it and all that jazz.
