Help, just repaired washer, won't spin now.

Hello all.

Recently i overloaded my washing machine with a blanket. Since then it has not been washing very well and when i opened the lid and held down the switch i found out why. Turns out the agitator was not working but all other functions worked well including the spin cycle.

So after much troubleshooting i found out it was a gear case problem. This unit has no dogs on the agitator and it was not stripped inside the agitator. These gear cases are not cheap so i purchased a second hand unit. I installed it but had a tough time seating the gear case back into the the washer as my bolts seemed to be shorter. I put it together anyway and ran a cycle.

All went well, it agitated beautifully however… after it drained and came to the rinse cycle all i heard was a loud buzzing sound and the tub did not spin. So i removed the gear case/motor and reinstalled this time making sure the clutch and the brake were not in each others way which i suspect was my problem the first time. The bolts were plenty long enough and all seemed well. But when i turned it back on directly to the rinse cycle i hear the same buzzing sound!

Could it bear i wrecked something? The clutch is in good shape (very hard to turn with your finger)and the brake seems intact. The tub turns fine when i turn the brake by hand.

Help!

The clutch hub should be easy to turn. You might of gotten a bad gearcase.
