About 6 months ago we noticed the dishwasher would cycle for an extended period of time. To the point we would turn it off manually.
If it did stop on it’s own the dishes wouldn’t be totally clean nor dry.
We found that all our pans and plastic plates (kids use them) would be covered in an greasy white film. There was also a build up of this foul smelling black stuff.
I called for service and they replaced the control board, which was supposed to solve my problem. It really didn’t do anything other than cost me a couple hundred dollars.
My dishes are still wet, not clean, and after scrubbing everything that black stuff came back.
My guess has to do with the water temperature. I run hot water prior to starting a cycle, but that doesn’t solve anything.
I used to open the door immediately after a cycle and the dishes were so hot I’d almost burn my hand. But they were dry.
The last service repair person to leave called me and asked me how much more money I want to spend on a 6 year old dishwasher. He suggested I buy a new one.
Thoughts?
If you think I should get a new one, is there a specific brand you suggest?
