I’m having problems with the bottom freezer on my Amana refrigerator building up ice and I have been doing a lot of reading to find out what the problem could be. While manually defrosting the freezer, I found water coming out of the door seal. I removed all the screws that hold the plastic shelves and the seal to the door and found big blocks of ice formed around the the insulation on the backside of the shelves. Is this a clue to the problem? I have not found any other posts where people have had ice buildup behind the plastic shelves on the freezer door.
After everything was defrosted, I replaces the soaked insulation behind the shelves and put everything back together. It worked for 2 weeks and now the back wall is freezing over again and I pulled the shelves off again and there was more ice forming. Any ideas?
