I was having an issue with the ice maker not making ice due to a build up in the back telling the sensor it was full so I took it out, cleaned it and put it back in. It was working fine until I went to get cubed ice out and it made a very loud motor/grinding noise when it dispenses. I pulled the tray out again thinking I didn’t put it in correctly and the loud noise went away but the ice maker would only dispense crushed ice so I found the problem was a lever stuck in the up position in the back so I pushed it down and have had no problem between cubed or crushed. Now however, the loud noise is back when dispensing cubed ice and is a normal dispensing sound when doing crushed ice. Help?
Hi.
Pull out the ice tray, remove the cover at the back and check the solenoid assembly. You may need to replace the solenoid or the bracket.

Post the results.

My icemaker was making the loud sound and I replaced the entire unit. A few hours later the new one was making the same sound. Could this be a bigger issue inside the freezer or just coincidentally a brand new icemaker has the same problem?
