Jenn Air SVE47100B was in the house when we bought it two years ago. On Christmas day when when we were cooking the ham we heard a pop. The clock and digital control was off and the bake element looked as though it was arcing from near the back (not the connections or against the wall, but along the rear section of the actual element). The stove top burners were still operable. We unplugged it and the arcing stopped on the bake element, but the element was broken. I replaced the bake element and the clock control (part number 71002331) with new parts from a local supplier. It all fits back together (did lots of surfing and phoning). Put the power back on and the clock comes on, but when I turn on the bake or the broil, the elements in the oven don’t get hot. The control unit will click as though it is trying to heat, and the temperature indicator doesn’t rise above 100 degrees, the lowest number that it can register (as soon as you press "bake," it automatically registers "100" regardless of the temperature until it gets above 100 degrees). All connections appear to be tight. I replaced one of the connectors on the red wire that connects into E1 L2 plug. There were some burn marks on that connector and wire as well as the E7 L2 connector on the old clock component. When I activate the broil, the blower comes on, however when the bake is on the fan does not come on when I flip the switch.
Gene–that looks like the part to me. Sure appreciate it…hopefully the old stove will work after I replace this piece.
Good luck on your next fishing trip.

Success.
Found it in stock at a local store, picked it up after work, came home and it took about 5 minutes to get it in and opscheck the bake and broil element. Spent longer screwing all the screws and bolts back in and getting the exhaust fan hooked back. Drinking to the fact that another appliance won’t end up in the land fill.
If you get east to Virginia Beach, we’ll go out for raw oysters, blue crabs, and beers on the CHX Bay, and I’ll introduce you to something they don’t have in So Cal…95% humidity.
Cheers and good fishing.

The dishwasher is about 5 years old and trouble free up until today. It started making a very loud buzzing sound while operating. The machine appears to be working through its cycles o.k. while the buzzing occurs. The owner’s manual troubleshooting section says for grinding, grating, crunching or buzzing sounds: "A hard object has entered the wash module (on some models). When the object is ground up, the sound should stop". The sound lasted for over 1/2 hour, and appears to be coming from behind the bottom panel below the door. I stopped the dishwasher, let it cool, and restarted. It started normally quiet, then started the loud buzzing and continued. Twice the buzzing stopped for about 30 seconds and the stopping did not seem to coincide with any change in function during the wash cycle. We are very careful about getting any food scraps into the dishwasher. We actually rinse the dishes in the sink to get food particles off before placing them in the dishwasher. Any advice is appreciated.
Hi Bill,
In order to provide most accurate advise we need the complete model number of the dishwasher.

Bill, did you get yours fixed? If so, what was the problem. Gene, my Kenmore Model: 665.1737* makes the same humming noises from down below. When the cycle is over, the detergent dispenser hasn’t opened and of course, the dishes aren’t very clean.
I took apart from the top, the chopper assembly is fine, nothing ‘stuck’ inside the unit. Do I look to the motor? Thanks in advance for help.
Rob
Rob,
If it makes a humming noise then the pump motor is probably stuck. Remove the bottom panel and check if this noise is coming from the motor.

Gene,
Still getting the hang of this site, and didn’t see your reply until I posted the latest.

Bill,
Did you check the pump impeller and the chopper assembly for foreign objects and/or broken chopper shaft as I recommended in the post of 8/10? I did not see your reports.
The recommendations for Rob are very different because you have different machines with different problems.

Hello Gene, 2 points. First, here is your reply to my post:
"If it makes a humming noise then the pump motor is probably stuck. Remove the bottom panel and check if this noise is coming from the motor."
I removed the pump motor from my Kenmore Dishwasher because it was making a humming noise. Please advise what to look at, or what to tackle with the pump?
Second, I fix/repair computers for a living (which gave me false hope I could tackle my dishwasher!), if you need any help or have a question about computers/Windows, feel free to send me a message, would be happy to reply. Thanks again for your help,
Rob
My problem was fixed by replacing the entire motor. The motor shaft had broken, more like disintegrated. Replaced the whole unit ($200), basically the entire shell that drops down into the middle of the dishwasher and everything is working again. Wow was it tough to get it back in. without taking out the dishwasher!
Hi Rob,
You did good job. We’re glad you were able to fix it.

The oven broiler element works intermittently. When turning on the broiler from a cold start it will come about 50% of the time. the rest it will not come on at all. Is it best to just replace the element or could the problem be something else? Thanks,
Here are the parts. Note it is for a JKP56BA1BB no zero in the number.
Could not find any ifo using the given model number

This repair is probably going to be a pain

Could be a number of things
-
The heating wire in the element is broken and is opening closing intermittently. You could try warming the oven up using the bake element.
Once warm try using the broil element to see it it now comes on all the time.
This may help isolate as a warm oven should not have much influence on the other possible causes.
Also pull the element, carefully inspect it and measure it with a meter usually around 20 ohms. Trouble is the problem is intermittent.
When it does heat up does it have a bright spot? -
A loose connection between the element and the control board. Also check that wires are properly crimped to connectors.
-
The relay on the control board. Could be the contacts are just about shot. Could also be that there is an electronic problem and the relay is not being closed all the time. Either one requires replacement of the electronic oven control (EOC)
Be sure to unplug the unit when working on it, 240 volts is lethal!!!
