JKP36 lower won't lock

Hello,

I have a GE Model JKP36*D2, the lower oven won’t lock for the self-cleaning cylce. The upper oven locks, and I am able to run the self-clean for the upper oven. However when I try to lock the lower oven, I push the release button and the locking lever will not move to the right.

Appreciate any help or assistance!

Hi Tod,

Can you hear a click made by the door lock solenoid at that time?

I do hear the solenoid in the top oven area when I hit the "latch release" button, but I do not hear it in the lower oven.

You have to check this solenoid (lower oven) for continuity.

Thank you, Gene. How do I get at the solenoid? Looks like I have to take the upper door off?
