About a week ago I noticed that my 5 year old Kenmore 596.52673201 refrigerator was making an intermittent buzzing sound (every 5 minutes or so, and lasts for about 10-15 seconds) it had never made before. Then today I noticed that things in the freezer were starting to melt. I pulled it away from the wall and took off the lower back cover panels. The buzzing seems to be coming from the capacitors’ attached to the compressor. Would this be the problem and can these be replaced by DIY’r. THANKS

The freezer was not freezing. The refrigerator was warm inside. I unpluged it and it defrosted. It cool good for a few days then iced back up. I want to know where the timer defrost is located, to replace it.

The defrost timer is behind the control panel in the refrigerator section. Turn it till the compressor stops. If it now defrosts, you have a bad defrost timer AP2111929, if not probably a bad freezer defrost thermostat.
