Kenmore Coldspot Fridge totally dead

[FONT=&quot]Today I opened the fridge and both sides all the lights are out. Fridge not cold and I do not hear any motor.

Pulled the unit out, unplugged and plugged back in, no difference.

Basically it is totally dead. No lights anywhere, no cooling, no noise. It was working fine yesterday.

Any idea where I should start looking?

Thanks in advance.

Check for power at the wall receptacle.

If it is on a GFI, it has probably tripped.

There is power at the receptacle.

Tested with a voltage tester. The fridge is on a dedicated 20A circuit.

It is acting as if it’s getting no power. I unplugged and opened the lower back "cardboard" cover, the compressor is not on. Total silence no vibration or humming.

If the starter to the compressor is fried would it cause the inside lights to not come on too? There must be eight light bulbs or more inside both compartments and they are all out. Water filter status light is also off.

The lights and compressor should be separate.

cCould be a bad line cord.

well…

it turns out that receptacle for the refrigerator is downstream of a nearby GFCI receptacle. For some reason that GFCI test button must have been pressed and it cuts off power to that receptacle, which also cuts off power to the refrigerator receptacle. My voltage tester still showed power. That’s all that was. Pressing RESET fixed it.

I do not recommend having a fridge on a GFI.

Any little moisture trail from a light socket or a connector etc. in the freezer will trip the GFI.
