I’m having issues with my Kenmore(Whirlpool) electric dryer. I replaced the motor yesterday, as it was bad, and thought that was the only issue, apparently not. The dryer will start, and run, sometimes all the way through the cycle, sometimes it runs for 5 minutes, sometimes it will go 20 minutes. I get heat, and when it does stop, the timer stops. Is this a bad timer, or a bad push to start switch?? I’m not in a postition to replace the dryer, so repair is the only option. Any and all suggestions are most appreciated. My husband is out of town, and the laundry continues to pile up!!
Thanks
Were you able to restart the dryer right after it stopped? Did it make any noise at that time?
Gene.
Yes, I can start it when ever it stops, I was just down there changing over loads, and it clicks off, like it would if the cycle were over. When it died originally, it wouldn’t even turn on, and the drum was almost impossible to turn, so I assumed that the bearings had seized. It started fine after the new motor. It just doesn’t want to stay on…
Thanks

Chris,
Does it do it on both auto and timed dry or only when you use the auto dry?
Gene.
I’m plain and simple, and I only use the time dry, I don’t use the auto dry…
I have a MDG5500AWW Maytag gas dryer that will not start. I can’t even turn off the display. It seems that the start, stop, and buzzer + bottons don’t work. I have put the dryer in test mode. To get out of test mode, the directions say to hit the off botton, but it will remain in the test mode. All other bottons do something exept start, stop, and buzzer + bottons. I have changed the door switch and jumped the thermal fues (temporaraly). When I push the start botton, nothing happens. Not even trying to do anything. It looks like the next step is to change the touch pad? My serial number is 69396667GG. Is there any check I can do before forking over $150+ on a chance it is the key pad?
