I have a fairly new Kenmore Fridge that has a door not sealing shut. As of this morning it was ok, but tonight I noticed the door was barely closed and not sealing.
I looked under the door gasket and there are no cracks and no broken screws. There is nothing preventing the door from closing. I do not keep any items in the door shelves either. I have checked the magnet in the door gaskets and another magnet does stick to the strip.
I am puzzled and need this fixed asap before the food inside goes bad. Thanks in advance for all your help.
Check that the unit is level front to back or slightly leaning to the back.
Check that the gasket on the hinge side of the door is not grabbing and twisting as the door closes. Often a light coating of white lithium grease or vaseline will solve this.
Check the door cams on the bottom hinge of the door. The door rides up and down on these and when close is on the down slope which holds the door closed.
The Unit is still on the crate skids so its level. It doesn’t appear to be the cams or hinges. However, I took a metal ruler to see if it would stick to the gasket, It does not stick on the outer side or top, but the bottom and hinge side it does. So I am guessing I need a gasket?
So I am guessing I need a gasket?
Since you said everything else is OK then I would also replace the gasket.
Though I would check the front to back with a level as you cannot just assume it is level because it is on the skid.
