kenmore fridge not freezing, fan and compressor is running

Refridgerator and freezer stopped working the other day and after a bit of online searching, I went in and checked the defrost thermostat and it was a bit disformed like it had water or moisture in it and expanded, slightly deforming it but very noticable. checked it for continuity and at first it didnt have any then a second time it did? I replaced it and fridge started working and frost was forming on the coils at bottom of freezer, a half a day later things were thawing out again…I noticed the fans were not running and things were getting warm, looked under front of fridge and the timer was right there so I turned it a bit and things came to life again…fan…compressor, everything seemed to run normal but there is not enough cooling to freeze things, cool air in the fridge and fan blowing cool in the freezer but not enough to freeze water. Can anyone help me?

If the evaporator coils are completely covered with frost, defrost with a hair dryer. Let it run for a period and measure the freezer temperature. If now well below freezing, I would check the defrost heater, may be blown open.

Richhappy,
The coils are not covered with ice, they seem to be clean and wet like the heater is on all the time, just cool enough to be a refridgerator in the freezer, I cleaned all the dust out from the evaporator coils down below ’ fans seem fine in both rear of fridge and inside freezer…
