Kenmore Gas Dryer Won't Start

I have a Kenmore Gas Dryer Model Number 110.77902790 that is approaching 10 years of age. It worked fine until it abruptly stopped beginning right after its last load was complete. The door switch is operational because the interior light goes on and off when it is pressed and released. Trying the panel switches in a variety of positions had no effect. I dissasembled the dryer and the motor was covered with lint so I vacuumed out dust and lint from the entire interior, including the switches and relays. After reassembly, the dryer still would not start. I was told that if I held the start and dryer door switches down and turned the drum and the motor started it would indicate that the motor was bad. However, when I did that, the motor still would not start. I also noticed that the drum would only turn in one direction. My questions are: is there any way to insure that the motor is the problem before replacing it ? Given the dissassembly effort and expense required to replace the motor. what other inexpensive parts should be replaced at the same time ? Thank you.
