Kenmore Refrigerator compressor/defrosting problem

Sat. morning our home was struck by lighting and fried a lot of our applainces. Our kenmore refrigerator model 10657575790 didn’t seem bothered until later that evening we noticeds the middle divider and spots around the freezer very hot to the touch but everything else seemed to work properly. We called a repairman out Sunday afternoon and he said our compressor fan motor was out and he also said we had a defrost problem and he thought it was from the electrical panel. We opted not to repair as the cost was more than we had paid for the used refigerator. Later that evening we noticed that the compressor fan was working but the "hot spots" were still there and it seemed the compressor wasn’t cycling off. We cleaned the coils very well and now the hot spots are gone but the compressor has only cycled off once (and when it did I heard random hissing noises) since sat morning (its now tues) and we would like to fix the defrost problem (already having ice build up on freezer back wall after being cleaned sunday evening) and any others (ie compressor relay, etc) to hopefully get many more years out of this appliance. Do you have any suggestions as to what we should try first and then second?
