Kenmore Stacker washer not working

The washer part of this system became erratic. You could turn the washer dial to the desired wash setting and pull the knob out and it would not always start. Now it doesn’t start at all. I’ve stripped it down and removed the timer which is this one here. I’ve taken the timer apart, and yeah, it shows some minor signs of old age, but mostly dirt/mild corrosion. My question - is this what is at fault? At $90 I don’t want to purchase if this isn’t the problem.

The little round component on the timer (no idea what this is) rattles. Should it? It looks like a sealed unit. It’s a Siebe component.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Anyone please?

If you had to jiggle the timer to have the washer start then most likely the timer is the beast.
