Kenmore Ultra Wash; Soap Dispenser Will Not Close

The door to the soap dispenser in my Kenmore Ultra Wash will not close at all. The spring seems to work just fine as it keeps the lid flipped all the way back. The latching mechanism, the little clasp that grabs the detergent door’s edge, moves backwards and forwards with the turning of the cycle knob but it does not actually grab onto nor clasp over the detergent door’s edge. For the life of me, I can not see how this clasp would ever catch and hold the door closed.

As it stands now, we just dump detergent into the bottom of the dish washer but the dishes are not getting clean.

The link to the photos above show the door/latch. Did something break off?

It does look like something has broken off the latch.
A magnifying glass may help you see the break point.
Also look in the bottom of the dishwasher.

See the Latch Kit AP3130817 on Page 7 in the parts.

Would you mind reposting the link to the tech sheet? It does not work anymore. Thanks!

Strike that. It was a security certificate issue not the link. The link is working so no need to repost.

Thanks.
