Kenmore Washer won't spin, agitate or drain

Hi. I have Kenmore Washer Model 110.27612600 that fills but do not spin, agitate or drain. When I put machine on the spin or rinse cycle it makes loud buzz noise for split second but motor does not run. Machine keeps trying with loud buzz noise at every 30 to 45 second but motor just does not run. I see spark at the motor thermal switch and feel like short circuit is happening somewhere. I checked each and every terminals but no burn contacts or wires. In order to test the motor, I connected the motor directly to 120 V outlet with capacitor inline. I connected Red and Blue wires to hot side and Yellow and Gray wires to neutral. Motor did run. Therefore, I believe it is not the motor. I have already tried the following thigs. 1. Check the continuity of the lid switch. It is working fine. 2. Tried to run the machine with lid switch bypassed and pump and the coupler removed from the motor. It did not run. 3. I changed the capacitor but still the same result. At this point I am thinking that it is the timer. I was wondering if someone can help me trouble shoot.

Hi.

Based on the information you provided I recommend you to replace the timer. But before check the the motor plug and the wires next to it.

The timer [part]8577356[/part]

Good luck. Post the results.

Can it be motor centrifugal switch? Motor works fine when connected directly to 120 V outlet.

Hi.

If the contacts on the motor switch looks OK - it’s should be fine.
