I have a Kitchen Aid KUDS01FKSS0 and I have had trouble getting the start button to work consistently. The clear cover over the buttons has broken away, exposing the actual switch and I believe the button is almost broken, hence the intermittent failures.
The repair technician said I need a whole new control panel $400+, but on inspection (I opened the door up and viewed the parts diagram on this site), it looks like I just need to replace the User Interface Board that has the button on it.
Questions:
- Is it likely I need to replace the Panel Control ($236) vs just the user interface board ($71)?
- Will the User Interface Board come with a new plastic button cover, is that that part of the Panel Control, or is it something completely different altogether.
It looks like a straightforward repair, but, i want to make sure I don’t get in too far over my head trying to save a few bucks. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff
