Kitchen Aid no heat & no clean

I am having very poor results using my dish washer for the past year or more and have come to the realization that there is a problem. It is a Kitchen aid, model # KUDL01ILBS2. It looks like I have 2 problems. The heating element does not heat at any time any cycle and I do not think the middle or top spray is working at all. The conditions I have are that I have dirty spotty
glasses and dishes especially on the top rack. No sign of any water reheat and no drying at the drying cycle. The water temp is not hot at any time after the initial filling. I was told by Sears to run a container of "dishwasher cleaner" through it while it was unloaded, but that was a waste of time. Sears also advised me to check the inlet valve screen. I did clean out an awful lot of calcium crystals at the point that the hot water line connects to the water inlet valve. I thought that the improved flow of water would clear the problem, it did not help on the cleaning issue. On average to go through all the cycles takes 3 hours. Is this normal? After I removed the calcium buildup at the inlet valve, the water fill took less than 1 minute(big improvement). I have also pulled and cleaned the chopper assembly and check valve and although there was a bunch of foreign matter all throughout, I did not feel it was enough to impede the passage of water. I am just guessing that I need a new heater coil and there is at least 1 clogged orifice. I have not used an ohm meter to test the heat element yet. What would be the correct reading for a good heat element? What do you think needs to be done to correct the trouble. Does this model have any common history of trouble like I am having?

Thanks for your time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
