The refrigerator operates normally, but every few minutes one of the normal sounds gets very loud. The loud sound may last a minute or five and then stops. The sound is similar to the sound of computer fan going bad. The sound is loudest in the refrigerator compartment and in the lower back left corner on the outside of the unit. Any idea what the problem is?
Your model number is missing several digits at the end.
If you search at the AppliancePartsPros parts section, it will give you the models that come up with this short model number.
Also when you click on a part’s picture a new page will open with more info on it.
Sounds like the condenser/compressor fan is going.
Pull the unit away from the wall and remove the rear cover to confirm this.
It may need replacing.
Also when you are under there I would clean the condenser coils and the fan blade.
there is another fan in the un it in the freezer but your description points more towards the condenser fan.
Thanks for the reply. When I first posted, I turned off the ice maker to see if it was part of the problem. After 24 hours with the ice maker off, the loud noises went away. The unit was so quiet, I waited nervously to see if it was working at all. It’s been working fine for two days now, no loud sounds, so I turned the ice maker back on an it has been working fine, no odd sounds for over 12 hours now. Should I still be expecting the issue to return?

Should I still be expecting the issue to return?
Cannot say but usually appliances do not fix themselves.
