I have a KEBS278SSS02 (kithchenAid double oven) that has stoped heating on the top oven. The bottom works. The numberic pannel works for the top, the lights come on, I can set the temperature, the fan works…all OK with the top BUT, when I push start. NOTHING! no heat, just keeps saying "preheating". Heating element cold. The convection fan will run. Like I said, the bottom oven works fully.
Most likely the problem is a bad oven shutdown thermal cutoff (#28 on the diagram). It is located on the back of the oven and the oven has to be removed from the cabinet for repair.

Thank you for the $11.00 fix and a little elbow grease. FYI, the failure happened within 3 days of an long cycle oven cleaning. I don’t know if they are related.
You are welcome. I’m glad it’s up and running.

It is very likely that the oven got overheated during self clean.
