Another Ebay Nightmare! We bought a new "display model" Kitchenaid KECC568SS3 "touch Control" cooktop through a supposed appliance dealer on Ebay last April. For one reason or another didn’t install the cooktop until this weekend. It is replacing an older model Kitchenaid with regular knobs. When we hooked it up, the power came on to the "Control Lock" pad. Following instructions, we held this pad for 5 seconds and the control lock went out. Each of the touch pads beeps as you pass over them, but no other leds come on and no power gets to the elements. Do you think it is a power board or the control board…or something else totally? We put the old one back in and it works fine, so I know the power is ok.
So what do I do now? I have a volt meter and I repair packaging equipment for a living so I am used to troubleshooting with the right equipment and knowledge. What can I do now?
wont start have power everywhere except at timer help
Unplug and pull out lay on its front… remove large rear panel next to where the vent hose attached is the blower husing … ckeck the thermal fuse by removing 1 wire and check for continuity… if none replace it and clean vent from wall to outside…here is a pic of the fuse
Ok, I bought a timer and It still froze up. I tested it by checking if I could hear the sizzel of the heater melting ice-no go, So I installed the Defrost Thermostat. I tested it again to see if the Defrost Heater would get hot-no it didn’t. I checked it with my meter to see if there was an open-not open. I checked the Defrost Thermostat to see if it was open-I disconnected it and it shows as an open. I don’t belive this is the way it works. I would think it is normally closed and when it senses a certain temp it would open. I checked my connections and crimps-they are fine. Where do I go from here?
FYI-it froze up 1st time and then taken months before it happened again, then it got shorter and shorter between times of it frezzing up. Now days
It has been 2 months with no problems. It had to be the defrost thermostat. Thank you for all your help.
