Leaking dishwasher

My dishwasher has been leaking everywhere, I can’t see any problem with the seal but I can’t figure out what could be wrong with it. There is no seal on the bottom of the door of the dishwasher but I don’t know if that is normal.

It is leaking through the door, right at the bottom of the door.

Hi Gene,
This is a reply to your response.
My dishwasher is leaking form the bottom right side.
It is a whirlpool Gold model appox. 6 years old. The model number is GU940SCGT3. Thanks for your response.

Hi Don,

Remove the inner door panel and check the soap dispenser latch (#2 on the [AP3130817](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?diagram_id=102589&&model_id=262016"]inner door break down diagram[/URL]) for the leakage marks.

If there are any marks - replace the latch.

This one woke me up to GE quality. A relatively new, builder installed GE dishwasher started leaking from the right side. Even though it was keeping my tile grout clean I opted for a new dishwasher (not GE). When I removed the machine the cause of the leak became clear. The body of the machine was bowed outward making it impossible for the door gasket to seal properly. Isn’t that a beaut?

Hi Gene,
I’m sorry for the confusion. I took the inner side of the door off and the soap dispenser appears to be working properly. The dishwasher is actually leaking on the left side not the right. I tighten all of the screws pretty tight when replacing the door, however more water seems to be comming out now then before.

Thanks
Don Evans

Whirlpool du810dwgui 1999 model leaking bottom right corner thru the door. I replaced door seal already, disassembled door and cleaned hard water deposits, do not see anything "broke".
When I stuff a little cloth inside door at bottom/end of door seal, water leak stopped. only work around though. Leak is mainly when start washer, water seems to squirt.

Hi Mark,

Remove the inner door panel and check for a leak through the latch (#3 on the inner door break down diagram).

This will be my first time repairing a dryer. It is electric, it operates but it doesn’t have any heat at all. how do I tell if it is the thermostat or the heating element? Does this and all brands have both?

Try switching your breaker off/on a couple times slowly.
Sometimes half the line can drop out without actually blowing the breaker.
Better yet measure the receptacle for 240 volts.

Also remember to unplug the wires to one side of any part you are measuring for continuity. This ensures you are measuring the device and not an alternate/parallel circuit path.

And unplug the unit when measuring ohms.
There is a good sticky at the top of this forum.

You can get a decent digital multimeter for under $20.00. You do not need fancy but it is nice if the leads are a couple feet long. If it saves ordering one unnecessary part, it has paid for itself.
