leaking maytag washer

Older Maytag washer leaks from the left side while the water is filling the tank. Are there any hoses going to the top of the tank and how do you open the washer to check for loose hoses?

I’ve read this thread after finding water by my Maytag washer. I took of the front panel, filled it with water and ran a cycle but don’t see anything leaking or anything wet.

Looks like it must be coming from under the bottom floor panel. I tipped the washer over but nothing obvious. I can’t fill the washer and run it tipped over to look for the leak.

Any suggestion where the leak is coming from and what to do?

Thanks for any help.

Dave, Your leak is most likely to be at the injector valve. This is an aerator system that is located at the top left side of the tub. Water splashes out of the plastic housing as the washer fills. All that normally needs to be replaced is the injector valve and sleeve. Two parts that may set you back around $20.

I’ll remove the top and look for it tomorrow. It’s -5 degrees tonight and even though I’m indoors my fingers feel numb.

Thanks for the help.

I’m all done now. The model was LAT2300AA and it is much easier to fix than the other models. The outer tub does not have to be removed. I found this out too late.

Good for you. We are glad you were able to fix it.
