Maytag performa washer

I have the above washer. It leaked about 1 month ago when we used it and did not leak again until tonight.

It leaks when it is agitating, not when it is filling or when it is spinning out. Where do I begin to try to find the leak- I know the hoses to it are not wet. It seems to be coming from the bottom right rear part of the washer.

I hate to get a repair man here as that will be $100.00 easy and it is a 10 year old washer… if we get this problem fixed everything else is still 10 years old and a new one is a little over $300.00.

I looked at the parts diagram and it looks like there are only a few seals in there. I am not sure how to get the thing apart or if I should do so. I am slightly mechanically inclined but never took a washer apart before. I have a lot of general tools but none for this if there is anything specialized need.

Replies appreciated.

With a putty knife, release the top panel retaining clips and tilt the top back, remove the front panel and observe when the washer is washing. Probably a bad pump in the back right. You will need the model # to order it from this site.

It is leaking in the front left side? (opposite of the plumbing I think?) Any thoughts what could be leaking?

ours did the same thing. Leaked about a month ago. Not so bad… Then it cut loose and soaked our floor. After the first leak it started to make a noise when agitating. Any ideas? Maytag performa washer. Thanks.
